Abstract

The problem of parents' inappropriate parenting styles in educating children has an impact on children's daily lives at school and at home. Children who are raised with an authoritarian parenting style are less independent, passive in class activities, afraid to express opinions, less open and always dependent on their parents' opinions. Therefore, a democratic parenting style is much better for educating children so that they are more independent. This research aims to obtain information to find out the extent to which democratic parenting can shape children's independent character and how to overcome the impact of authoritarian parenting. This research uses a qualitative type of research, the method used uses a descriptive method, this research was carried out to determine the circumstances or conditions in the field that occurred and the results were in the form of a research report. This research was carried out collaboratively with cooperation between teachers, parents and school principals.
