Abstract

This article aims to describe the results of research on school readiness and peer rejection in early childhood. School readiness is one of the skills that children must be able to in elementary school. This research was conducted on one child aged 6 years in one private kindergarten. The study was conducted for 6-7 months, using a case study qualitative research method. Data collection is done through observation techniques on children and unstructured interviews with teachers and parents. The results of this study indicate that young children who experience peer rejection are unable to social skills. Meanwhile, social skills are one indicator of school readiness. Based on this research, it is recommended for parents to provide stimulus to children before starting to enter primary school, to teachers to be more intense and optimal in dealing with peer rejection in early childhood, for government policies are expected to provide policies so that elementary and kindergarten parties harmonize perceptions about schools readiness that are not too focused on children's academic abilities.
